Hello from Ilkley, UK
« on: 19 Sep 2025, 08:15 am »
Hi, just getting back into fixing up old hifi after a few decades of writing software.  I tend to buy old stuff at auctions and bring it back up to spec.  Which led me to this form...
I picked up a pair of Becker One speakers yesterday.  I had planned to buy something else but got them for £18.  They look and feel like pretty good quality but I've never come across them in the UK before.
I'm trying to find out what the power handling is before I give them a listen and would be grateful if anyone can tell me.
Cheers!
Steve

Welcome to AC! Becker is a name I have not heard in many years. I owned a pair of Beckers (don’t remember the model number 47-48 years ago (when I was 5 years old of course  :)

I do remember they were not a difficult load to drive. I bought a receiver to drive them (from memory it was a 35wpc  Akai receiver

Thanks!  I'm amazed I've never heard of them before, purely because they're so nicely made.  I'm going to test them with a Pioneer SA-5300 and a Quad 405-2.  Based on your info I'll be careful with the volume when I hook them up to the Quad.  Cheers!

Thanks for the welcome messages!  I'm going to give the speakers a go tomorrow.  I still can't get over how nice they look!
