Why would Eversolo release a newer model that doesn’t sound better than a previous model?  The T10 has all the features as mentioned in the previous post, but it also allows for an external master clock.  It also has isolation electrically.  Please look at the photos of the T10 isolation compared to my N20.  Do you see similarities?  Simply said, the T10 will sound better.

Btw, MSB just released the Palisade info today at High End Vienna.  I had to keep it quiet after my tour.  Looking forward to hearing it.

I meant that the expected subtle improvement in sound may not be sufficient to justify upgrading from the T8 to the T10. Happens all the time. Think about cell phones -- every year there's a newer or more expensive model with a few additional features, but it may not be enough to entice you to upgrade. Believe me, I'd love to upgrade my T8 to the T10, but I don't care about the external clock input, the user interface, the faster processor, or the improved room correction.

I'm biased, though. Earlier, I reported upgrading the clocks in my T8 and using an external LPS, but the sound didn't significantly improve. That's where my veiled skepticism stems from.

Yes I can understand that.

In your system, are you using USB?  If so, then the player’s clock is slaved leaving your DAC’s clock as the master.  Your sound is only as good as your DAC.  If your source has the better clock, then you may try using the AES/EBU output, but you will lose the ability to play DSD/DSF files.  If the clock in your DAC is better than the T8 / T10, then this is where you can use the master clock input in the player and the word output from your DAC while using USB.

Please experiment and share your findings.  Happy listening!

I'm using a digital cable. My DAC is 6 years old, and with upgraded clocks in the T8, I'm assuming the T8 has better clocks. I don't have any DSD files.

A few years ago, I experimented with an external clock during my Denafrips phase (a Terra). The good ones cost more than I'm willing to spend at the moment, plus I'd need a decent power cord and BNC cables. That cost could be as much as the price of the T10!!

Oh you’re using a digital BNC cable.  I used a Nirvana T-2 between my Audiolab 8000CD and 8000DAX.  I loved the warm sound, and I still have the components and cable.  I believe that the digital BNC output still has the DAC as the master clock.  Someone please correct me if I’m wrong.  It may be worth a shot to use a balanced XLR AES/EBU cable if your DAC has that input.  Then your updated T-8 clock will be the master.

I use a coaxial digital cable. My DAC doesn't have an XLR input. Previously, I used USB, and before that, a BNC cable. The differences between coax, USB, and BNC are subtle to my ears and on my system. Cable quality makes a bigger difference. I rely on Hapa Audio interconnects.
