Interesting. I guess you have to put the microphone further than 1 meter... Or you measure with only few drivers connected and then extrapolate... Good question!

Well, the microphone was definitely further away, because the drivers have to couple.  You need to sit far enough away from the speakers to experience them properly.

These speakers will play into mid-low 30's depending on room reinforcement. If we just took 1-4" driver and a tweeter and measured it, that's just a little 2-way, and will play nowhere near the 50's, I'd bet. But adding all of those other drivers... it becomes a completely different thing.  It's a different speaker and what is is doing down lower needs to be known too.

As I recall Danny explaining it, this speaker below was important.  The A/V1.  A simple, accurate 2 way.  Danny's 5" 2-way speakers are among his most accurate, if not the most accurate.

So, if you measured that A/V1 like normal, you'd have a response.

Then, what if we put that A/V1 into a room big enough for the 20/21 to open up properly.  We place that A/V1 in a certain spot... in fact, the same spot where you will place the 20/21.

Then, we take a ROOM measurement of the A/V1.  We are measuring a known, accurate response speaker in a room that will have a different response.

Now, we can't measure the 20/21 like a regular speaker; however, we can put it in the same spot, in the same room as the A/V1 we just measured.

We have a benchmark in the A/V1 response to go for with the 20/21.

Now, with "Network Version XXX", what is the ROOM response of the 20/21?  How does it compare to a KNOWN accurate speaker in that SAME ROOM.

And then... "If it sounds good, it IS good." And you get to that point.

On my network, Danny has nudged the woofer inductor values down just a little bit, 6.5mH to 6mH for both.

As I recall / understand what Danny shared, it's by "deduction" in that general fashion.  It's possible I completely misunderstood all of this and am completely wrong, but if I just made that up... that's pretty good, I figure.

I'm sure he will correct anything needed... when he isn't chasing after the 300 emails you loons send everyday.  :thumb:
