I have a soft spot for Opel, especially the GT. My adopted Pops, a car guy’s car guy, had one.  My first car was a Kadett station wagon.  I loved that car.  Figuring out how to get the standard tranny into reverse took a minute.

In Germany the GM are Opel.
When I was young I bought a used Maverick 6L 3.8 as my first car, this thing has reverse gear aside to 1st gear, as a result I hit the car behind at a traffic light on a hill.

I'm always taken aback when I look at "the ones that got away" and the prices they were available for. I always think "If I'd only known..." or "If I only earned a tiny bit more."  But then reality sets in: that Miura I could have grabbed for $20k in 1978 really was out of reach at the equivalent of two years' salary. I felt poverty-stricken in my first job after college in 1975, when I earned US$170 per week ($8,840 a year). But that's equivalent to $54k/year today, which is $26/hour, and I'm always grumbling about the "unrealistic expectations today's young people have!"
But there ARE bargains: the 2006 Aston Martin DB9 Volante I have in my garage now was $180k new, which is about $300k in today's money. But you can buy one now in decent shape for around $40k. Depreciation can be our friend if we're looking for a car to drive, not as an investment.

The Sport 1000 were 2 one-off racecar prototypes by the Italian automobile manufacturer De Tomaso and based off of the De Tomaso Vallelunga model. Two separate coach builders were drafted to design both Spyders; Ghia and Fantuzzi.

Displayed at the Geneva Motor Show, March 1966 and subsequently shown extensively. For marketing reasons, De Tomaso always said that the Competizione 2000 was equipped with a Flat 8 cylinder 2-litre De Tomaso engine but it was actually powered by a 1600cc Ford 120E with special heads and camshafts tuned by De Tomaso (basically an enlarged version of the standard Vallelunga unit). The gearbox was a Volkswagen case with gears by Colotti (more or less the same gearbox as in De Tomaso's F3 and Junior's). Initially the Competizione 2000 was equipped with 13-inch wheels (tyres 6.00 L13 front and 7.00 L13 rear), but later De Tomaso equipped it with the same 15-inch wheels as the Sport 2000. This car, as well, was retained by the factory until De Tomaso's liquidation in June of 2004.

Open wheels cars are named Formula cars,
in US they are named USF or US Formula,
(F1600, F4 US, FR US, USF Jr, USF 2000, USF Pro, Indy car).

Then years a go Formula cars as F1,F2,F3 or Formula Indy had only manual gear box, clutch on the left foot, no ABS, when the driver engaged wrong gear the gearbox broke, there was no electric clutch, no programmed gear changes for each turn, no radio, no electric hydration bottle with mineral salts.

Today a F1 GP last only around 300KM or 70/80 laps.
