I keep mine organised in a simple, logical order.

I start with LPs, filed A–Z, followed by Various Artists A–Z, and then Soundtracks A–Z.

Next comes 12-inch singles A–Z, then 10-inch singles A–Z, and 7-inch singles A–Z.

After that, I move on to boxsets, also arranged A–Z.

For cassettes, I use the same system: A–Z, followed by my own recordings again A–Z, then double-height cassettes A–Z, and finally cassette boxsets.

I’ve attached a couple of images for reference.

I organize by "this pile will fit on that shelf".  I can't find a thing, but it makes playing long lost forgotten music easier.

Alpha numeric by artist last name, then by chronological order. Singles are included in that mix and not filed separately. Only have a handful of V/A albums so those are stacked at the end. With only 300+ albums to sort, I haven't felt the need to first sort by category at all. Maybe one day if my collection grows too large.  8) We can only hope though.

Non-classical albums are shelved A-Z; restart the A-Z for our classical albums / box sets as a distinct group
