This is a good moment to start this topic.
Hifiman have several new releases and has returned to naming its headphones with the traditional numerical system to indicate their position in the brand's model line.

The HE-600 is a new model using the traditional HifiMan round can, descendant from the HE-6 (2010) 94dB, 28Ω, $800.

Audivina: sealed in black leather can, new head band, XLR4 3M cable, 96dB, 20Ω, $400.

HE-R9, dynamic, sealed, 100dB, 60Ω, only $79.

Wow, the $600 dynamic HE R9 headphone going for $80!  I'd imagine the people who bought it at full retail are pissed, while folks looking for something like that now are overjoyed.  HiFiman does this all the time, they did it with the HE 400i cutting a $500 phone to $160, destroying any resale value.  I'm thinking about grabbing this deal, I've been wanting to add another closed back phone.

Edit:  Okay, maybe not after reading reviews.  Universally, from all reviewers, they suck.  They say not worth it at the discounted price, better options at $79.  In fact I can't remember ever reading such damning reviews of any audio product, and I'm a big fan of HiFiman products.  Oh well, the other two look like nice products.

I suppose HifiMan policy are smarter than the Audeze full price policy as Audeze was sold to Sony and are in risk of closing as Erickson and Nokia.

Thanks for doing my research for me. I was getting ready to look into them. :thumb:

Because of their declining drop in price after purchase, I would never buy anything from HiFiMan ever again.
They got me twice in the past, first with the HE 400i and then with the Ananda's.. I'm done with them.. I moved
on to the Sennheiser HD800S with a Woo Audio WA2 headphone amp..

I actually sold my hifiman for more than I bought it years ago, but I was hoarding an original HE-6 which is perhaps the most sought after model from their "vintage" lineup.

Do you think the new HE-6SE have the same sound as the vintage HE-6 ?

No, there was a certain magic to the original HE-6 which the HE-6SE doesn't quite capture despite their claims.

Its a shame HifiMan can not produce the original HE6 screen.
But why release this fake copy ?

Now they are saying the new HE600 sussesfuly replicated the HE6 sound
But the original HE6 weight was 502gr and the new HE600 weight is just 389gr and easy sensitivity 94dB.

The original HE-6 has always had the mystique around it as the original super-hard-to-drive headphone, and it's old enough now to be considered vintage and scarcity has now risen it to near legendary status. From what I recall, the original was also made buy a fellow who left the company after a falling out, and the owner has never been able to recreate it and he is pissed that people keep clamouring for the headphone that he can't seem to beat (or maybe the newer stuff actually is better, but the legend of the original haunts him).

This new HE600 is far out of the original HE6, it dont have a half kilo of magnets as the original, only 389gr, this is 113gr less magnets with the purpose of spending less.

I don't see how these two phones could sound the same.

So assuming the HE-6 is unobtainium what is your new fav HifiMan phone?  And more relevantly since it's crazy to buy any HifiMan product that's not on factory closeout, which super deal priced phone is on your radar?  I'm looking at the HE-560, which in the day was the to go if you didn't have the specialized amp and to drive the HE-6.  It's on offer for some insanely low price.

Its the Ananda Nano at $319, much better value than HE400 and 500/600 line, Audeze LCD2-Classic, Senn 600/800 etc and have a decent head-belt.
This Ananda have a better sound than the HE400, Sundara etc and price is low.
https://store.hifiman.com/index.php/ananda-nano.html

EDITED:  Some reviews says the Ananda Nano have a nice Soundstage but not as big as the Ananda V1 and has a bright treble.

Unfortunately I cant recommend the various Unveiled models due the open dust window.
But my recommendation worth two cents.
