Hoagie is in the top 10 bad science fiction horror films I have watched. I has it all: terrible acting, cheesy special effects, bad editing, incongruous plot, weekend warrior right-wing Nazis and exceedingly bad taste. The film is a comedy satire so maybe it was Matt Hewitt's intention to make a bad 1950's horror film. And maybe I just wasn't drunk and stoned enough.

Brendan Bean, a kindly family man, discovers a strange egg and the impish creature it hatches can grant great power, for good or ill. The previous owners of the egg have a disastrous and murderous history. Can Brendan escape the same fate?

The third act bloodbath makes the most of the limited budget, no CGI here. You will either laugh or run to the next room screaming.
Hoagie is an extremely low-budget independent film and is the current darling of DIY film aficionados. I actually discovered
Hoagie in a NY Times movie review.
