Not quite on topic: My BDP-3 stopped working and went to the Dutch representative of Bryston. I just received the outcome of their efforts. They say that my device seems to have a problem related to the motherboard, and are involved with the Bryston engineers how to solve this, since the motherboards for the BDP-3 are not available anymore. They offer me the choice of buying a new one (reduced price) or wait for the solution the Bryston engineers will come up with.
Now, coincidentally, in this thread I read that James mentioned the lack of the motherboard availability and that Bryston is looking for alternatives. So, my question is, will waiting for this be worth while? I can imagine that the modern motherboards have added advantages (not running that hot, better CPU-performance, NVMe ssds). I am prepared to be patient if these added bonusses are within reach for me...

If a company discontinues their last BDP and do not offer a replacement standalone....plus are "radio silent" on software upgrades ....I would not wait for engineers at Bryston and get the new BDP-3 at a reduced price.

My two cents..

Hi James!

That's kind of you to ask!

Well, some time ago, Chris and I were discussing the possibility of purchasing spare parts for the BDP-2/BDA-2. I think it is particularly important now that the BDP line has been discontinued. I am quite fond of my Bryston digital components and I woild like to keep them operational for as long as possible.

I would really need to talk to someone about it, someone intimately familiar with the BDP-2 and BDA-2 products. At that time, Chris told me that it would most likely be handled through Mike Pickett but like I said, it was some time ago and I don't know if these gentlemen are still with the company.

So, anything you can do to put me in touch with a person or persons with whom I can speak about this would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

All the best,
Antun

Hi Folks - I will try an get an update for you.

Hi James,

any update on whether the BDP line will receive firmware or software updates, particularly for the ManicMoose interface?
A clear yes or no would be really helpful for planning purposes.
Thanks in advance!

I know they are looking at options for a new version of the BDP digital player with new software but not sure if there are any conclusions at this point.
