I too was a big fan of Moontan and saw the band a couple of times in the mid-seventies, where most of Moontan was played, sounding even better live than on the album. Great progressive hard rock with flute. They had supported The Who on tour in the early seventies and Pete Townshend was a fan, particularly of Kooymans incredible guitar skills, RIP. By the eighties Golden Earring had moved away from that spacey, progressive sound to become a bit more commercial and I lost interest. Seventies rock was all about virtuosity, particularly guitar, and Kooymans was one of the very best.
