 Hi to everyone.
Guess I’m a different kind of gear-head to the normal mainstream.
I produce music, and appreciate a high-level monitoring system that is simple, high quality, and hopefully dead flat in response.
Took a long time to get to this point, but now feel I’ve got there with my current gear (pictured in Mag’s post).
Question is, does anyone else listen to CD music in this way for enjoyment?
I no longer involve myself in re-EQing recordings to sweeten them up, but instead just take what I’m given.
I like to feel that the experience would be like the artist going back to the studio, to listen to the final CD pressing on
the monitors they recorded with.
I’m getting all the info, with huge detail, imaging, true realism, etc, and I feel that by not adding my own input - that the music goes a lot deeper into my subconcious, and each successive listen gives a different experience each time.
I can invite artists into my home, and fully listen to what they are saying, without interrupting or distorting them with my own sonic agenda.
To a certain point, I can also accept shortcomings in my listening-room’s acoustics, since I sit quite close to my system - near to midfield in fact. My speakers are 6ft apart, and I sit 7ft away.
What I’m getting now from this approach, is that the mind is much more curious to jump in and enjoy/explore other’s audio work - whereas in my old days, I would tweak away, and perhaps miss the point of the whole thing.
In the past I had long periods of not listening to music at all, but now feel more drawn to it - certainly due to this recent approach and acceptance, together with training the ears to listen flat.
Any thoughts welcome.
Cheers.

Let me rotate that for you.

Hi, good first post, you sound like an audiophile.
I don't think we are going to get along, I like mid-range and I use an EQ or tone controls.
It reminds me of getting in a taxi after a previous driver and the car stereo settings is all bass. Arg!! how can you listen to that!? It's got to have mid-range and treble.

Welcome to AudioCircle Solarflares.

Tottenham Court Road, that takes me back to going from shop to shop looking for the best price on Personal Stereo’s. Have you been to Tottenham Court Road lately? It’s all fancy book shops, coffee shops, furniture store’s etc. :(

Yes, I have a system that has satisfied my audio quest after many years. Could it be better? Of course! but that would take way TOO MUCH MONEY  and hours of tweaking and frustration. One has to know when enough is enough. Welcome, and flare on.
