By the way, I think someone lost these... no way Danny bought $9,500 RCA cables, right?

Danny: "Hey, did you see the...YES! I SAW THEM!! WHAT THE HECK?!?!?!"

Danny: "Well, Caelin just wanted to say...  8)"

Some people in the industry think Danny is "Building 'em right", evidently.

The speakers with the wood slab sides, is that solid wood or veneered material?

I would venture that the ones with the smaller-than-speaker-side plate are MDF with rigid thermofoil "veneer". Acoustically good because it's MDF, and the woodgrain foils are very convincing. Many moons ago I used this on a build discussed here that Danny designed a filter for.

Does anyone know what species of wood that is?  I was thinking of buying the Hobb's NX some time in the future, and I was either thinking Maple or Walnut.  I wonder if the completed speakers will have that level veneer quality, if it is a veneer.

I think that Hobbs speaker you see was done by Denton Wood Works (Killian).  If you take that picture and email them they will be able to confirm what they can do.

I know another forum member just sent a custom pair of 8" 2-ways to Denton do be veneered in Walnut.  I am building the same pair of 2 ways and will be doing the same.

The "Alpha One" speaker enclosures were made overseas and are being assembled here.  Danny knows all of the particulars about the wood.  I forget what he's said about it.
