Another big data leak
« on: 20 Jun 2025, 11:10 pm »
Received today a notice from my email provider to change the password and then saw this news.

Forbes magazine reported this week 18Jun25 Wednesday that a giant data leak have affected more than 16 billion passwords in apps from Apple, Meta, Instagram, WhatsApp and Google,

The action was discovered in an investigation that has been ongoing since the beginning of this year by Cybernews, an independent agency that researches hacker actions.

“30 exposed data sets containing tens of millions to more than 3.5 billion records each”, which, in total, would exceed the mark of 16 billion leaked data. Like always it was not possible identify which hacker group was behind the leak.

The leaked information contained login details for social media accounts, banking services, government apps and others, and was probably obtained through phishing, from links that trick the user into accessing this information, malware installations, and ransomware invasions.
This data leak could be the largest recorded in history.
Just waiting for the next.
