  I installed this Graphic Equalizer Software many years ago but never used it until last night. I've been using VoiceMeeter instead, if I recall correct this was part of the download. Let me tell you my Custom Studios never sounded better.

1k to 5kHz is the range the human ear is most sensitive.

Purists don’t like tone controls, but if you have a little hearing loss it can be useful.  My integrated amp has them.

The short answer is it sounds right to my ears. The long answer is, I want guitars to sound like guitars and have some edge to it particularly rock guitar. Also having been to live concerts in a good venue like our Auditorium, I want music to sound lively, sound bouncing off the walls, in this case headphones, to achieve that I have to boost the frequencies. And third having a mixer, I played around with it for 2 weeks before using. I discovered that boosting the mid-frequencies gives music its musicality, in fact its a very fine line to nail down. Music can still sound damn good when you don't nail these frequencies, but when you do, music has a bloom to it.

For me it all started trying to compensate for the Fletcher-Munson Curve. To do that you have to use Tone Controls or an Equalizer. The problem with the equalizers I used were the spec distortion was bad and degrading the performance of my higher quality gear. So had to find away that did not mask the sound of better gear.

EQ makes a HUGE difference with headphones, but I prefer to start with already-measured baseline for specific headphones, then add some tweaks to taste.  Oratory1990 EQ curves are a giant help

  I switched to different software as I was having some kind of conflict with VoiceMeeter. Now I'm using Nahimic and even Youtube sounds incredible.

For me, headphone sound took a HUGE jump when I installed PGGB-RT with Foobar 2000.  Amazing software.

True but another potential use case is compensation for hearing loss. I was fitted with hearing aids about 3 months ago and am still floored every night when taking them out how flat and lifeless everything sounds.  Rather than listening through hearing aids I want to mimic the hearing aid program through EQ.

Which reminds me, I've a recording featuring Lily Pons singing at the Met c.1950. I haven't played it in ~50 years. It's time I dust off the jacket & transfer from the vinyl. That's for a different circle.
