Late to the party, and now "moot", but I would have encouraged a listen to (and purchase of) the new Audio Technica VMx series -- specifically the AT-VM740xML [@ $249.00 USD shipped(!)] -- the aluminium cantilever is well matched to the Micro-Line (Microlinear) stylus [with a miniscule 'effective tip mass'] -- and -- when fed through a "classic" EAR834P 'clone' @47K ohm load -- magic happens ...

Wanted to get away from the AT line...sarted with an AT120E, then the LC and finally the VMN 540. Really like the Nag!
