Just curious. You mention that you do reviews, where can I find them. Thanks

You can find them in the Van Alstine circle.

This is a very simplistic view of setup, you are assuming that the cantilever, diamond tip etc have been mounted correctly. In reality,  this is never true so in that case this setup is wrong.

I don't agree.  Cantilever has nothing to do with it. Cantilever is not even viewed in this approach.  It is being ignored.  Simply put,  correct azimuth is achieved when the stylus is sitting perfectly vertical in the groove, and not tilted to either side, when viewed perfectly head-on.

To confirm this, you get eye level down on the LP and simply view the stylus directly head-on as it sits on the mirror.  If the actual stylus and the reflected stylus form a perfect vertical line....you are there!!  It is very easy to see when this verticality does not occur.

Not saying this approach yields "better results" than the high tech stuff you link.  But I am willing to bet it gets you damn close....and possibly so close you won't hear any difference.

I agree that build quality is sometimes not perfect.   But even in that case, this approach still reveals whether (or not) perfect stylus verticality is achieved.

js1955 until you have tried it, you don’t know what you are missing and no close enough is not good enough. If you have spent all that money on a cartridge, you want to get the best out of it and that is not by simply plonking the cartridge square on.
Correct azimuth is achieved when the crosstalk and channel separation is at its best. if the generator is wonky because it has not been mounted correctly, you will not get the best sound. I have not come across a perfectly built cartridge yet.

For me it’s not a case of seeing, but a case of hearing the difference.

Cartridge arrived this afternoon.  It'll be 24-48 hours before I have the time to install.  Life has a habit of getting in the way.

Why Alnico FRM?
Sorry for this late reply, I didn't see your post before.
Alnico 5 have great sound quality due to the rich hamonics content.
Alnico 8 not as good as 5 but better than Ferrite, also know as Ceramic or Barium.

Oh sorry, I thought you were talking about an alignment tool and the binocular magnifiers were in addition.

I build models so I have several different types of magnifiers around.

I just find that it's much easier to see the position of the cantilever and stylus with a bit of magnification and illumination.   I used to be able to see it fine... in younger years.
