I mean is it possible to set the line output to fixed in order to connect to an external preamplifier with the shortest signal path?

CDP-9 has been discontinued for more than a year.
We only offer CDT-9 transport.

I know but you can still buy them on second-hand marketplaces. The question was if I can have line output excluding volume control

This FAQ indirectly explains the design that a well designed high-end preamp + DAC is just as good as a bypass switch:

You could set the volume of CDP-9 at your desire level and then use the remote control to turn it off. The volume level will be memorized and you just leave it alone.
