Any Marantz PM-10 or KI Ruby Int. amp users
« on: 25 Apr 2025, 02:41 pm »
Hi, is anyone using or have used a Marantz PM-10 or Ruby KI integrated amp?  I have some questions about them.  I am thinking of buying one of these when I downsize from my Pass amp and BAT preamp.

Thanks,

Larry

Hi Adam,

Do you own one of these?

Do you know how to hook up a sub to either of these?  They are both differential amps and Marantz does not recommend hooking up a sub to speaker level inputs of a sub apparently.  But I have read that other people have done it without problems.  I for the life of me don't understand why this is so.  It should have nothing to do with connecting them to speaker level inputs.

I have heard the KI Ruby and I felt it had some of the best tone and texture that I have heard and its warmer romantic tone is right up my alley. No surprise here since KI himself designed both of these but the KI was his baby, and it supposedly has a stellar phono preamp because he was a vinyl guy and also loved this type of tone and texture.  I could be perfectly happy with the KI Ruby but there are some good prices on used PM-10's which has similar voicing and topology and is supposedly much better sounding.

If you own the PM-10, is it voiced with some warmth?  Is tonally rich like the KI Ruby?

Thanks!
