Sony WH-1000XM5 L/R balance
« on: 21 Apr 2025, 07:16 pm »
I love these phones but just noticed the Right one is almost silent, everything is in the Left. As an old (very) stereo guy my definition of balance refers to L-R relative volume. This seems not to be in the Sony app. Any ideas?

I own a set of these and they are excellent. My only guess into what the issue is would be a hardware related problem. Aside from the spatial sound optimization and EQ there aren’t a ton of things one can do to mess with the settings within the Sony software.

However there is the potential that your phone may have its own settings for balance. If you are using an iPhone follow these steps: Settings > Accessibility > Audio & Visual under that menus check to make sure “balance” is centered. It should be at the bottom of the menu. If it’s Android you’ll have to look it up. I’m not sure how to fix for that OS.  :thumb:

My guess is your phones are not Pairing correctly. There can be more than one type of driver and its not connecting to the driver intended for these phones.
When I use Amazon Music app on PC it will list devices that I can connect to. And there can be more than one listing for the headphones I'm using. Usually the default sounds the best, selecting another may sound tinny although it still works.
