The Audiophile Junkie stopped by the Danville Signal, room for a listen to the ABC demo of the Magnepan 1.7i's with direct drive dspNexus DSP crossover, Danville Signal Class D amps and the PlanarBASS subs.

Super good to watch about this system and hear how well it really ups the ante and yet doesn't require a second mortgage. Al, your humble approach to showing off your work is impressive. You bring the goods but you don't blow your own horn about it. Many people could learn from you on that.  :thumb:

Rich, thank you for sharing that. I know you've put in a lot of work helping as well. Keep it up cause it's sounding damn good.

Lloyd,
You are welcome.  Glad to show Jason's latest video of AXPONA 2025.

Jason came to the room for AXPONA 2024, CAF2023 and CAF2024 demo's as well and put up videos on his YouTube channel.

Hopefully, when you and Forest Dweller get together you will be able to hear his dspNexus 2/8 system with his new gear. :)

I am now running the DSPNexus 2/8 with my LRS+ and I’m really impressed so far. Still need to fine tune it with some measurements in my room, but so far, it’s really close to the GR Research crossover.

If the GR Research crossover does the job close to the DSPNexus my wallet alone would make the choice.

He also has another pair of speakers that are a 3-way DSP crossover design working as well with the same dspNexus 2/8.

Besides the crossover it also allows room bass management at the listening position.  Also gives the time delay for the main speakers when he adds subs.  It works with REW for room measurements and you balanced powered measurement mic with calibration file.

It is also a DSP control center with preamp capabilities with remote control for line level or RIAA Phono inputs. For digital it has XMOS Asynchronous USB2 audio and S/PDIF I/O.

So for me, I use it as the entire analog front end, DSP crossover with frequency response correction for the main speakers and DSP processing for my OB subs.

Having a dedicated amplifier for each driver with no parts in between has its advantages sonically plus everything HAL said. Yes it’s expensive. This is definitely not for everyone. It’s for hardcore DIY folks who mess around with ALOT of speakers and more so for OEMs who want to develop a speaker system around it.

Also forgot to mention that it’s 100% modular, so it can be upgraded easily when improved modules like DACs and the DSP come out.
