I wanted to share my thoughts on the SWAF show.
This is the second show I have attended as a vendor. When I attend these shows, it's daunting. I have so many mixed feelings when I walk into a venue like this. Some of the thoughts seem hypocritical to each other. For one, I always get the feeling that this industry is so friggin big, the term 'an embarrassment of riches' come to mind. And yet, our little corner of the universe is most definitely getting smaller at an alarming rate. A lot of older wiser men, and not nearly enough under 30 people. I felt sort of awash in a sea of too much and not enough.
Sharing the room with Brian with Charney audio and Kobe - rep for
Lucas Audio Labs was a ton of fun. This was the first show that Charney audio showed the insanely great Lumaca VI speakers.
Sporting a Voxativ driver, the Lumaca speakers are the most insanely realistic presentation I have heard bar none. How Brian gets the bass response out of these speakers is a mystery to me. Hell, Brian himself often muses 'How the F@#$ do these speakers produce that much BASS???!!?!?" If designer of these insane speakers doesn't get it, then I suppose it's ok for me to be completely dumbfounded too.
Never in my life at a show have I seen so many

faces listening to a system. "Where's the sub???" "Is there a woofer hidden inside the cabinet???" "what kind of dual concentric driver is that????" were the most common questions followed by "HOW is it possible for a FULL RANGE DRIVER to produce that level of BASS???" I'm telling you people, this is what a work of pure genius looks like. Industry guys (who shall remain nameless) stating 'This is the best speaker I have ever heard in my life.'
We did our best to capture a taste of the room sound using my phone. I know, not ideal but here you go:
