Dope Thief on Apple TV+ is one of the best series streaming right now. The first two episodes are available now with a total of eight episodes in the first season.
The series stars Brian Tyree Henry and Wagner Moura as long-time friends and delinquents who pose as DEA agents to rob drug houses in gritty Philadelphia. A recently released parolee tells them about a drug house in the countryside, but they end up unintentionally stealing from an organized narcotics operation under surveillance by the actual DEA.
Dope Thief is fast paced action as our boys try to survive as the mob closes in. The filming style, tension and dialog reminds me of "The Wire." We'll see if the show holds up, it's off to a good start. Ridley Scott directs the first episode.
