Before this purchase, I was looking really hard at the JBL L100t3. The main deal breaker was the pair I was looking at were on the east coast and I live on the west coast. There wasn't really any way to test them unless I was to fly over there. Shipping was going to cost $650 by itself for something you could not see or hear. You can only buy these speakers used as well with no warranty.

I owned a pair of the JBL L100T and I loved those speakers so much. Then I got this wild hair to setup a home theater system using Definitive Technology speakers. I thought they sounded pretty awesome at the time. After a few years, one of the plate amplifiers failed and they are so complicated that a self-repair wasn't going to be possible for me. Definitive wanted $300 for another amp but if I was going to spend that much money on old speakers, maybe I should consider something new. It turns out, I didn't watch movies as often as I thought which made the purchase less ideal.

I have 12 hours of experience with the Bully speakers now, and I have to honestly tell you, it was the best decision I have made when it comes to stereo. I never knew music could sound this way in your own home. I don't even think I have heard many concerts that can come even close to this experience. So far, I have no regrets on this purchase. These speakers are absolutely magical, and they are not even broken in yet. Some of the songs I have played for years have become shockingly new and different. I have picked up sounds I have never heard before in my favorites. The coolest thing in the world is the drummer kicking his bass drum and it's like a punch in your chest. I could never go back to any speaker I've owned before. Hell, I wouldn't even consider looking for anything "better". I found my forever speakers!

I am so glad to hear you say that. If the Bully’s excel at anything it’s drums! I have never heard speakers that made drums sound so lifelike!

I've never heard a speaker that could make drums sound this way. I have had friends who were drummers and I spent hours listening to them. I know what a bass drum should sound like, and the Bully definitely does too. The sound stage seems wider than my listening area. It's just crazy!

One thing that I forgot to mention is my wife loves these speakers as much as I do. I can crank them anytime without any objections.

Now you know why Danny has such a following.  Ever since I heard the X-Statiks back in 2008 I was hooked!  I’ve heard plenty of great speakers over the years but Danny’s kits, while not necessarily cheap, are an amazing value compared to factory made speakers at similar price points.  Better parts, better designs, and if you build them yourself, better satisfaction!

Build quality is also much higher with the kits too.  No regular manufacturers are doing things like multiple braces and NoRez together.  Until you get to stupid expensive stuff.

I'm still down almost 20lbs from working on this project. Danny really needs to sell it as his personal weight loss program.

I understand why these were named the Bully now. I've been bullied and thrashed by these speakers for a week now.  :)

Once you have dual servo subs in your setup, it's really hard to go back to anything else.  They really are the best bass modules for music available, especially in a 2 channel music setup.  It's always shocking how clean they are and how mean/powerful they are.  That's a really hard combo to nail.

Sadly, I'm not experiencing weight loss due to my build.  :(

20lbs..that's a hefty chunk of weight. Now..to keep it off.

100% agree with you. I have had my pair for several months and they seem to sound better everyday I listen to them. The MTM design is pure magic. Everything sounds the way it was meant to sound. And as everyone can imagine, the bass is on a completely different level. The flexibility is amazing. And lastly the build quality is second to none. What's not to love.
