Wife and I started watching "A Real Pain" tonight. Odd little story of two Jewish cousins with a tour group in Poland. Kieran Culkin stars (although the Academy Awards mistakenly gave him best supporing- he's clearly the main character), playing a bizarrely, irritatingly bipolar type. He does it so well that we finally agreed that it was unpleasant to watch the movie and turned it off half way though. Sometimes an unpleasant movie is worth the experience for the bigger message/experience... but A Real Pain is no Schindler's List.
It doesn't help that the co star is Jesse Eisenberg, once again playing Jesse Eisenberg. After about 40 minutes, it was just tiring to watch more.
But I expect many will have a higher opinion of it.
