i acquired it used in 1975. AR2ax speakers powered by an AR integrated amp. Not sure if it had a model number, but I recall it was around 50 watts/channel. It looked like the image below

Source was an AR belt drive with a Shure M91ED. I remember it had a gray plastic box for a head shell.




I really wish i still had that system. I still remember listening to Queen's first album to christen it. Being new to the hifi world at the time, it absolutely blew me away.

I heard a similar AR2ax set up recently- a friend runs a record store and sell lots of vintage stuff.  A few years ago he ran across a  pair of Frazier Monte Carlo speakers, my first "real" speakers.  I eagerly bought them, resoldered the connections, patched a small tear in the woofer cone, and set them up to play on my tubed Fisher receiver (that I know sounds pretty good).  I eagerly waited for the tubes to come to life and MUSIC emerged!! Really muddy, limited range, sluggish music. So my experience is leave the past in the past.  We are living in the good old days now.
