Hi,

RIP Frank. Such a great guy, a straight shooter and produced such a good quality products for the audiophile community. I bought one of his phono stages which he sent to me in Australia.

All the best to Frank's family and colleagues.

Very sad news indeed.  He was one of a kind.  Our family has had many pieces of AVA equipment.  My T-8 was inuse last night.  Made great sound available to the masses.  God bless Frank and his family.

Always looked forward to seeing him at shows.  His speaker wire rope was priceless.

Condolences to family and staff.

As it happened I never owned any AVA component but had great respect for Frank's approach and products.  I hope the company carries on in his spirit.

RIP Frank.  Sorry that you weren't able to enjoy your retirement for a while longer.  Thanks for the great amp I'm listening to right now.

I first met Frank in 1975. I was going to college and buying and selling hifi equipment to pay my way.

Frank was selling Dynaco (and other brands) from his house in Burnsville MN which attracted me to drive out to see him. That visit changed my life.
I probably wouldn't be in the audio equipment business today if I hadn't met Frank.

Frank taught me how to listen critically. We all learned a lot from each other by modifying Dynaco preamps and power amps.
These products developed some cachet and ultimately we started an audio company together (Van Alstine Audio Systems) with 4 partners.
The Audio by Van Alstine company represented by this circle was also an outgrowth of this association. This was Frank's company that started as Jensen Stereo.

I think Frank always endeavored to create high value products at reasonable prices.  The audio industry has lost another great pioneer.

Best of luck to the current team.

Oh, gosh, this is sad news. My sincerest condolences to his family, team mates, and friends.

I became a customer of Frank’s in 1979. My Dynaco PAT 4 developed a nasty 60 hz hum. Found him in the yellow pages. On the call he said he could fix. And then he said , “we can fix it or we can make it better!”  That got my attention and I ended up with his newly designed power supply.

This was the beginning of a long term relationship that included several preamp upgrades, two new preamps, Hafler xl280 with his circuits to the Omega 2, later updated to 3, and a few more power amps. The Omega 2/3 particularly stick in my mind. I had Infinity Kappa 8 speakers which have a notorious impedance dip below 2 ohms at some frequencies. The Omegas were the first amp to make them sound good and be able to play them at lease breaking levels.

Frank was a giant in the industry. It was a privilege to do business with him. He will be sorely missed

So sorry to hear.  I met Frank in 2016 at AXPONA.  I really enjoyed chatting with him and getting a personalized demo from him.   He was a very nice guy and will be missed.  My condolences to his family and staff.

RIP Frank. I have met Frank many times at shows. His room was always great sounding. I am also a repeat customer. Being in this hobby for over 50 years, AVA gear continues to impress me. Frank brought extreme hifi to us regular audiophiles. He never lost his focus of matching great sound to practicality. Along with that came affordability and reliability. He was one of a kind. He will be greatly missed.
