Oh, gosh, this is sad news. My sincerest condolences to his family, team mates, and friends.
I became a customer of Frank’s in 1979. My Dynaco PAT 4 developed a nasty 60 hz hum. Found him in the yellow pages. On the call he said he could fix. And then he said , “we can fix it or we can make it better!” That got my attention and I ended up with his newly designed power supply.
This was the beginning of a long term relationship that included several preamp upgrades, two new preamps, Hafler xl280 with his circuits to the Omega 2, later updated to 3, and a few more power amps. The Omega 2/3 particularly stick in my mind. I had Infinity Kappa 8 speakers which have a notorious impedance dip below 2 ohms at some frequencies. The Omegas were the first amp to make them sound good and be able to play them at lease breaking levels.
Frank was a giant in the industry. It was a privilege to do business with him. He will be sorely missed
