Some very sad news
« on: 30 Jan 2025, 09:27 pm »
We are saddened to announce that after a short illness, our founder, Frank Van Alstine, died on Wednesday, January 29th. Frank had been an innovator in the audio industry for over 57 years. Always bringing a “no nonsense approach” to the products he offered, satisfying his passion for creating high quality products with high value was always his primary goal. His greatest joy in business was from the happy letters and feedback he received from his customers.

At the time of his death, Frank had been transitioning toward full retirement. His staff has been skillfully managing the business for the last few years. Daily operations, manufacturing, engineering and product development, and service on AVA products continue without pause.

Many of Frank’s staff have worked with him for decades. We started as his customers and were drawn to his passion for audio. We were audiophiles, and we became his friends. He will be greatly missed!

Mary

My condolences.  I will always treasure my visit to Frank's demo room where he not only gave a great demo of the AVA equipment, but also peaked my interest in Salk speakers.  He was a true gentleman and always had his clients best interests in mind.

This is sad beyond words. I never had the pleasure of meeting Frank, but I've been aware of his presence in the industry since the early-mid 70s, and the universal respect and esteem in which he was held. I purchased my first piece of AVA equipment in 2003 and have upgraded several times. I've never had the slightest desire to consider anyone else's products.

Frank was one of a kind.

Oh, Jeez, that is sad news.
He was a very good man and I'm happy to say that the two AVA products I have perform flawlessly.

Deepest sympathies to Frank's family, friends, and associates. I never had the pleasure of meeting him, but spoke with him numerous times over the years, and he was indeed a gentleman. As Wayne notes, I think of him every time I turn on and enjoy one of my systems. His knowledge and expertise is a great loss to the audio community. Rest In Peace Sir, and thanks for all the pleasure your equipment continues to bring.

Sad news. My condolences.

I got to meet Frank at the 2014 AXPONA. He was easy to talk to, and enthusiastic about his craft. I bought my first amp from him.

Rest in peace, Frank.

Very sorry to hear this. My condolences to Frank's family, colleagues, and friends. I never had the opportunity to meet or talk with Frank. But as I sit here listening to my AVA audio equipment, I believe he was one of the greats in the industry, a passionate and clever man. Thanks for the music, Frank !

Frank, you were certainly one of the Old Guard, both here and elsewhere in the audio world. Godspeed to whatever is next.
