Upgrade for Tyler Linbrook Signature Monitors?
« on: 19 Jan 2025, 10:30 pm »
Hi everyone,

Sorry if this has been covered. I know it's an older model, but I have a pair of the Tyler Linbrook Signature Monitors, which I believe have a crossover designed by Danny.  I saw this earlier thread: https://www.audiocircle.com/index.php?topic=107776.0

Danny's comments mirror my own impressions of the speaker - there's something muted about the midrange, especially higher vocals, electric guitars and the like. These speakers have nice cabinets and the tweeter sounds fantastic. So, the idea of upgrading the midbass drivers (and possibly crossover) is appealing. The cutout holes are 176mm, which is the same size as other Seas W18 drivers, some Dynaudio (I think 17W75 - I could be wrong) and Purifi. But it sounds like Danny has already found or designed a replacement midwoofer.

Does anyone know if there's an upgrade path for this speaker?

Thanks!
David

I did not design the crossovers for that model.

Thanks Danny. I know that it has been a while, but do you remember what the replacement woofer you found for the Decade D3 was? I'm just trying to figure out what to do with these speakers - either sell them or upgrade them.

The Decade series didn't use a replacement woofer. I designed all of those drivers used in the Decade series and they were all custom made for Ty.

You can send in that Linbrook and I can see what I can do with it if you want. I do know it had a LEAP based (calculated) crossover design made for it. So it may or may not have worked out well.

Thanks Danny. I might just do that. Also, I'm down in Austin and was thinking about coming for a visit one of these days. I could bring the speaker up if I make that happen (although shipping it is probably a lot easier!)
