BDP3 Skipping
« on: 14 Jan 2025, 09:14 pm »
My BDP-3 sometimes skips to the next tract before completing the tract playing. Has anyone else experienced this problem? If so, how is it corrected?

In all my years with my BDP2 never had skipping on any tracks,
I do hope and assume my Environmental ep-2050 has something to do with it.
Roon who needs it, manic moose has always been superb.
Select my tracks…create a playlist DONE.
Don’t need no cover art ect.
Here for the Music Hellooooo.

I'm with you on Roon. Wiseguy alanford is just being silly and immature. Manic Moose has been great for me too. On my skipping issue, I am going to take another look to see if the USB drive is too large. I have at leas two terabytes drives in the rear and it may be too large. Thanks for your response.

I’m just using one external two terabyte on the bdp 2 and a few thumb drives.
I do use a few Torus piu’s also.
Not to sure but I believe Chris Rice mentioned something about what your saying.
My system has basically been flawless since 2006 or so except for power down the bdp2 and unplug for a few minuets and then power up again as she would freeze up and it only happens when your in the groove for tunes on the deck in summer time.

Personally I don’t know why I should have to do the PU/PD on the bdp,
Yes it a computer as is my HPC,never had to power her down ever.
I’d email Chris or James as I’m pretty sure you can over load the bdp,

Interested what the response will be.

I have had my BDP3 configured with a 1TB internal drive, one 4TB external drive and another 1 TB external drive for several years now. They are all bus-powered 2-½” drives and I have not had your problem, gbaby. So, I doubt that “overloading” is what’s causing the problem, particularly if the issue just started recently and you haven’t changed anything.

This sounds like another example where we are glad that Bryston offers a five-year warranty on digital products and provides such great service and support.

My post was obviously ironic because in another thread we discussed the fact that Bryston new course is not releasing any firmware update for these device, including the “flagship” BR-20 and, when we ask for it, all you smart guys say is “just install Roon”

A new firmware would solve many issues we are having, including waiting minutes to get Qobuz favorites any time I switch my device on, not to mention the impossibility to have a Search feature aligned to this century’ standards.

How often does it skip?  It should only skip if there's an error playing the track preventing playback.

I have no issue with Manic Moose, either. It's been absolutely stable for me and does what I need. I do have Rigelian on my iPad and while it's snazzy and colorful it's really just for show, so I usually just use MM. As for skipping - that's something I've never had an issue with, even though I have more than 2 TB of music on the 4 TB Samsung SSD that's installed in my BDP-3.

As previously stated this might be a disk error.  Maybe try a different USB cable as a test?  I assume it does not a happen on the same track all the time?

It probably is some type of encoding error during the transfer. I think I can resolve it. Until then, please find below an article reviewing the likes of Manic Moose and extolling it as the best sounding interface for the BDP-3. Hopefully, it will dispel all future suggestions for Roon.
