Hi All,

I'm not a huge user of any social media; however when it comes to good audio, I certainly welcome like-minded folks, recommendations, ideas and alike! I'm here local to the Northern, VA area - for anybody whom might be in my neck of the woods.

I just registered/joined Audio Circle this morning. Per its instructions, I'm creating my first/introductory post.

Figured today was a good time to join (and join this particular circle) as I just made the decision (this morning) to sell my Parasound A21+ and purchase a pair of AVA DVA M225 mono blocks. From what I could find online, I think it was a wise decision. Without getting into the nitty gritty details, I'm always drawn to loud, fast, dynamic, and incredibly fun speakers. I've tried several out over the years and most recently sold my Martin Logan F200s to jump into a new pair of JBL HDI 3800s. The F200s were certainly great speakers; however I think the JBL 3800s strike the fine middle/fun ground across say Martin Logan and Klipsch. I love horns, but will admit (and to my ears) - Klipsch can be a bit too much. I'm hoping the JBL 3800s dial in the perfect middle ground (for now). I always crank things up super loud, multi-task around the house. i.e.; always off axis while listening. My neighbors can usually hear my music during super fun jam sessions :)

I welcome feedback from any member whom might have direct experience with both the Parasound A21+ and M225's. I hope my decision was wise :)

Everything I could find online - pointed in the favorable direction of the M225's...(over the A21+)

My total setup consist of

1. JBL HDI 3800s towers (I do 2 channel music listening only. No home theatre. No subs)
2. The newly acquired DVA M225's (arriving sometime this week)
3. Benchmark Audio LA4 Preamp (also fully balanced, super clean)
4. Eversolo Z8 DAC (has of course XLRs outputs as well)

Essentially, I'm XLR'ing across the board. DAC-->Preamp-->Power amp

Given the speed, punch/slam of the JBL's, and their rather good sensitivity rating of 92 DB, along with being 4 ohm speakers - I'm hoping the above/upstream gear allows them to shine. And fill my rather open/large/kind of l-shaped room (its our main level of our home). It's treated the best as one can - acoustically without going overboard, considering everything music stays on our main level and is a focal point when you walk into the home.

Also, I do no vinyl (yet). Digital streaming from Tidal, Quboz, Spotify etc...only..from my laptop to my z8 DAC...Hopefully if everything sails smooth, and after I recoup some budget back from getting through the Holidays, I can jump into the new DVA Digital Preamp....to pair with my M225's...

Happy Holidays/New Year!
Jimmy

Greetings & Welcome to AC Jimmy  :thumb:  I doubt you'll have any issues with the M225s, great detail, spacious sound stage, and for most systems all the power you'll ever need. I'm pretty sure your neighbors will enjoy them too if you wish crank them that much.

Welcome.  I reviewed the 225's for AVA.  I owned a Parasound A21, not the plus version but I did hear the plus version in store.
I prefer the 225's to both Parasounds.

Well done James.  That was relevant and inspiring.  You've inspired me to wake the neighbors... :icon_twisted: Rock On Jimmy!

Ok, that's not happening, however, If I had a system, no, no I still wouldn't do it...but you turned that knob that makes me want to crank it up and wake the neighbors.

Go for the DVA Preamp, I like the direction your headed and it sounds like a great system. I smell vinyl turning in your future.  Only make lateral moves if you're experimenting.

You'll always be  :icon_twisted: Jimmy to me.  Thanks, and welcome to the forum!
