I am thankful for this community of folks who are into to this niche hobby.  In my real life circle I don't have a single acquaintance who has taken the deep dive. Being able to nerd out with fellow travellers is something I greatly value, thanks all.

Same here. Back in the early 70s when I was in high school, all of my friends were rock' n roll fanatics, had stereos and went to lots of concerts - very good concerts in those days. Whenever we moved into a new apartment/house the stereo was the first thing set up.

As time went on responsibilities followed, we got married and it felt like everyone "outgrew" the passion for music/sound systems. Except me. No one in my wide family circle or friends still carries that torch, and all of the younger generation seem happy with earbuds and something approximating music. 

I too greatly appreciate my fellow audio nuts here on AC!

I'm mostly in the same boat, Mark. Most of our <my wife and my) friends probably think I'm a little nutso. They clearly do not hear music the same way I do. They're content with the crappy laptop speakers or $150 home theater bundles. I now have a few fellow addicts nearby who share my passion for music and gear, but it has taken years of searching to find them. AC was the first forum that really struck me as a worthwhile place to hang out.

AC is a great way to great way to meet new audio nuts and expand your circle of friends. Every town has a lot of lonely audio enthusiasts wondering if they are all alone in this hobby. After a while you will notice that there are AC members that live in your town. Coordinate a meet-up, pretty soon you won't be lonely anymore.

I accidentally started an audio club when a couple of guys on AC noticed I borrowed a couple of Ncore amps 11 years ago and I was having a listening session. The group is very casual, not everyone shows up all the time so our listening/gab sessions are manageable. A few of us recently listened to the Troels Gravesen Purifi-Be speaker. Last year I borrowed a pair of Fritz Carbon 7 speakers and set them up in members houses, nothing is better than to listen to new speakers in your house with your equipment. Our group was on a few Hapa Audio cable tours where members could try out the cables for a week. We hear new music and borrow each other's stuff all the time, it's a fun way to grow old.

I’ve lived in three states now over the course of my life.. New York. Kansas City MO and Oklahoma over a 50 year span. New York is where it all got started for me with 2 channel audio back in the seventies.. I had friends who were also in the same hobby and yes we also went to concerts together.. it was awesome..

Back in early 2000’s we moved to Kansas City, I lived there for 8 years. I never ran into any audio enthusiast in all that time. The only person who listened to my system besides me was my next door neighbor.. When I invited him over he mentioned that he was certain he would never hear a difference.. he actually did and even heard a difference after the tubes warmed up in my preamp..

When I moved to Oklahoma I never thought I would find any like minded audio enthusiast especially since there are hardly and decent brick and mortar stores to visit but I was wrong.. I met a guy at work who I became really good friends with.. he’s into vintage audio with a huge collection of gear.. He introduced me to friends he knew for years who went deep down the rabbit hole just like me..

I’m gonna be seventy soon and this bunch ranges from late 50’s to early 80’s in age and the group seems to have expanded in the last few months.. It’s been great meeting all these guy’s and listening to their systems.. I’m having a blast.

Wow, thats pretty amazing.. I like the fact that I've lived in different states over the years. I met a lot of really nice people along the way.. At my age, I don't see making another move but I'm around long enough to never say never..

I had an (ex-) sister-in-law tell me "You're the only person I know who just sits and listens to music".

I've got a cousin who is 70 - he's the only other person I know into audio.  We get together every few months and do listening on my system.

I gifted my son a pair of nicer Polk bookshelves and a little while later he dropped off a Pioneer direct drive table for me to rehab for him.  One of those old wood base servo drive beasts that sounded wonderful.  So there's hope for the younger generation.

The one friend who fit the build and geared up, then retired and moved.  We were just texting about his gear and a local shop.  I regret not making time while he was here.   Forums are nice, AC is a great chill spot, unadulterated by overbearing banner adds, love it.  Thanks AC...members!
