  • To whom more was given more will be required.
    • Never go to a psychiatrist, adopt a straycat or dog. On the street they live only two years average.

Today, Bose Corporation, a company synonymous with delivering amazing, premium audio experiences since its founding, announced the acquisition of McIntosh Group, the parent company of renowned high-performance and luxury audio brands that include McIntosh and Sonus faber. McIntosh Group manufactures the world’s finest amplifiers, speakers, turntables and other audio products, significantly expanding Bose’s portfolio.

Let's see how long it takes Bose to ruin these companies.

They can't make it any worse than it is already, not possible.

You forget that it is Bose blows.  They make lifestyle junk, and I have never liked any of their speakers including the much overrated 900 series.  They do make great noise cancelling headphones that are overpriced and have just average sound quality and not so great build quality.  I do not even care for their car stereos that a lot of auto manufacturers use.

Mcintosh is just the same as Bose, mediocre.

They also acquired Sonus Faber.  Never heard their speakers... if they are as good most of the reviews I've read let's hope they don't fall into mediocrity.  Would love to sit in on Bose's long-range business plan meetings.

The best thing about Sonus Fabers is they look fantastic.

Their higher end amps and preamps are excellent IMHO.  It is their midrange stuff that is just ok.

50 years ago when I walked into my first high end shop they carried McIntosh and those black faces with the meters looked so cool and sounded so good to my neophyte ears.  Over the years I've tried to like McIntosh gear and it's always fallen flat to my ears.  Smooth and ultra clean for sure, but never exciting.  I'm not a Bose hater, I like their lifestyle products like alarm clock radios and such.  So I think it's a perfect marriage, adding a higher end lifestyle brand should work for them.
