Hi all - I'm new to AudioCircle.

I just bought an VA Omegastar 240 amp - its on its way to me - which I'm using to power a pair of KEF LS50s.  Was wondering if anyone has any experience with such a setup.  I'm currently using a NAD 270 power amp and an AVA transendence 10 RB preamp.

Hey TomBo, got my Omegastar in my system and I am beginning to understand the AVA reputation.  I'm able to hear micro details and the separation in voices is impressive.  VERY HAPPY with my new AVA purchase.  Would recommend to anyone who wants to drive KEF LS50s.  At $400 for the amp I feel its a steal for the sound I'm getting out of it.

I had a older model MOSFET -120, using an Omega II preamp through the old B&W DM302 and that sounded great!

Yeah sometimes old is not necessarily bad - especially with AVA equipment.  I'm not made out of money so I'm very conscious about value I'm getting out the equipment I buy and so far AVA has not disappointed me.  Though I must admit I splurged on a used Metiner DAC which retailed for $10K (Yikes).  But I figured its the heart of my system as I stream solely digital now so I bought it used at a fraction of its retail cost.

You know I've heard it said many times that this audiophile game is not about pursuing perfection but rather the sound that's perfect for you.  And I must admit with the VA Omegastar I'm getting pretty close if not perfect for my uses.  I live in a small house and I don't listen very loud so this setup is probably best.  But I might try Magnepan's sometime down the road - though I suspect I would have to upgrade my power amp if I do - which I'm currently not prepared to do.
