Integra 9.8 SSP no longer going into Dolby Digital. What to do…???

I have an old Integra 9.8 SSP here. We use it for streaming movies and shows with an AppleTV over HDMI. We recently had a 3 day power outage and when all was back to normal, the 9.8 was not.
When streaming a movie now there is simply no Dolby Digital or DTS that will engage. Only the analog DSPs will engage, like Pro-Logic, ect.
I’ve checked all settings in the AppleTV and in the 9.8, I see nothing amiss there.

Could the issue be the AppleTV?  Or is it definitely the Integra?? BTW, I did swap the HDMI cable just to be sure on that, too.

I love this unit because of its multi-band and multi speaker Equalizer capabilities.

So I’m asking a few things here: Is it definitely the Integra? Could it possibly be the AppleTV? Can/Will this function return(lol)? Should I buy another used 9.8 for cheap? Should I look at something new, and if so, what?

Looks like I’m looking for y’all to make my decision for me! LOL. If I got something new to me, I think I’d want to keep it under $1500 used and like I said it must have a good EQ and of corse have nice clean sound like these Integra units were known for in their class.

I’m using a Rotel 5ch amp and Mirage OM6 towers and OMC2 center for our little 3ch set-up

Any thoughts, directions, comments about the issues OR opinion on replacement with same or different ect..

Thanks all!

I would try a factory reset on the Integra and/or the Apple TV to see if you can get it back. Before doing so, I would go into the configuration screens and take photos of the settings. You have to manually reenter them, but at least you'll know what the values before the reset.

I would also confirm that is not a problem caused by a software update to Apple TV. A web search should be able to tell you if others are experiencing the same problem.

Lastly before giving up on the Integra I would post the question and search the Home Theater forums to see what others have to say about your issue.

If you determine it is the Integra, I would buy something new. I would not take a chance on a used 15 year old unit. Pickings are slim for AV Pre-Pros. Marantz and Emotiva are brands that come to mind. If you want an AVR with pre-outs you have more selection. For these I would look at Anthem, Denon, and Marantz.

Again lots of information about products on the Home Theater forums.

Good luck, keep us posted.

  • I reject your music, and substitute my own.
How about other streaming sources? How about traditional disc media?

Double check all settings. Re-seat connections.

It's possible the power outage cause a spike. If it is the unit, Karma it rather than throwing it away.

Thank you for helping! Great suggestions!

I did a search and initially didn’t see anything. But today I see that this is now most likely an ApplyTV update issue.

I’ll keep investigating a little but looks like it’s only a somewhat known issue for about a month now from an update. And some are saying they(Apple) needs to know this is happening to more people so they’ll look into it.
