Attended last year, to get a sense of what these audiofests are like. thinking about this year as well, but I do wonder - is the Audiofest a good opportunity for finding deals on audio equipment?

Yes, very much so.  Both audio manufacturers and retailers exhibiting at the show hate hauling home equipment.  If you're a serious buyer make that known to the principals of the equipment you're interested in.  You'll likely get invites to after hours listening sessions, perhaps some dinners or drinks.  Virtually everything sold at a show is significantly discounted.

If there's something specific that you want, many manufacturers (mostly the smaller companies) will sell you an item they're demoing in advance of the show. You then just pick it up at the end of the last day. If you're confident that you know what you want, it's a great way to ensure someone else doesn't grab a deal ahead of you.
