Raffle Time…

As many of you know… I recently lost my Mom to cancer --- lost my Dad too many years ago to the same “killer beast”… It hurts, and continues to do so even today. Not a day goes by that I don’t think about my Father… he was really a special person, and my Mom (as many of you know) has had a profound impact on my life as well… I waited an appropriate period of time to “say something” by way of a Raffle to raise money for The Jimmy Fund (http://www.jimmyfund.org) --- and The Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. It’s time…

Let’s have some fun and raise some money for a GREAT cause… We’ll send all the net proceeds (after expenses) like we’ve always done 15 days after the close of these Raffles… I have two in mind… Here they are:

Raffle Number One

One pair RS1000’s

One RSC200 Centre Channel

One pair RS250 MKII’s

We will offer 150 “tickets” at $50 dollars each…

Raffle Number Two…

We have 20 ULW-10’s in White Shadow Maple… How about we do the following…

50 “tickets” at $10 dollars each… (per sub). That means a total of 1000 tickets at $10 dollars each for 20 subs… This gives many of you a great chance to win a wonderful subwoofer…

Once the tickets have been sold out… we’ll make the drawing as soon as possible but no longer than 2 weeks after the last ticket is sold. I’m in the country for several more weeks… so there’s time… Whenever each sub Raffle is closed… we’ll announce the winner right away… and then on to the next one…

Cancer is a horrible killer… My family has witnessed this more times that I care to think about… I can’t do much… but I CAN DO this…

It’s been an emotional time for me dealing with my Mom’s passing… I promised her to do MORE… I gave my word… This is step one… I have other things in mind… but this at least gets the engine turned over…

I like that there's a lower cost option for those of us that don't have much disposable $ at the moment.

Also convenient that I've got use for a sub, and that's the option that I can swing right now...

So will we be getting updates on the raffles here?

If so, will there be a way to determine if the ULW-10 drawings that have been done contain the ticket you purcahsed (if you wanted to get one for a later drawing after not having any luck with the drawing that your ticket was in)?

I believe the ULW-10 drawing will be held after 1000 tickets have been purchased (20 winners will be drawn from that lot).

I was understanding from what Mark was saying that once 50 tickets are sold for the ULW-10 raffle that a drawing will be held with those tickets. Then another drawing will be held for the next 50 tickets sold and so on. That way you've got a 1 in 50 chance instead of a 1 in 1000 chance.

Is that not how it's going?

The RS1000 raffle is SOLD OUT! The winner will be drawn as soon as possible but it could be as late as next week. Getting all these along with hundreds of ULW-10 raffle tickets entered into the system will take some time

We will announce the winner as soon as possible!

The odds are the same either way. 1:50 = 20:1000
It makes not difference. They are the same ratio

Congrads yourself. You won the first drawing I entered. Wasn't sure if I was going to have the $ to spare to enter any more drawings if I hadn't won this last one.

I actually wanted this to give to friends of mine as my current subs are quite nice.

They'd bought a house late last year and gotten a 5 channel ELT CSE set from another friend as a surprise housewarming type of gift (I'd pretty muched picked it out for them though). Ended up not being able to throw a sub into the mix. Which is kinda needed w/the ELT's as this is a strictly HT setup.

Funny thing was that the husband didn't want to spring for a sub anytime soon (he didn't care about it as he didn't think it was needed), but the wife really wanted a sub. How often does that happen?

Though the wife knew exactly why a sub was needed as I'd shown her why having a good sub is neccessary. Turned out that it also was a demo for why a sub is needed period for HT in a sub/sat setup.

So Sean is shipping the sub straight to their house for me.

Gotta love that. Then they'll be able to finally start using their HT setup as it'll now be complete.

Has been interesting that Josh & I have gotten lucky. I just signed up at the AV123 forum to better track the goings on of this raffle, and it doesn't look like Josh spends time there either.

Is this being promoted anywhere other than AC & AV123? Seems like most every winner so far hasn't been a Rocket owner before the raffle...
