Hello...New and maybe this forum isn't for me?

Hello all who may read this.  After an interesting process to register, I believe I'm on my way to simply finding a way to upgrade my 1995 NHT 2.1 speakers.  I thought this may be a good resource since a link from GR Research sent me here.  Hopefully I'm in the right place to start the, journey of possibly using the "assembled flat pack cabinets" I have.  :D

Welcome, and I think you'll find a wealth of knowledge and friendly people here. And there is plenty of experience ready to be shared about DIY speakers and the choices and construction involved.
Also, be sure to check out the Cheap and Cheerful circle. Most of the people who hang out there have excellent knowledge and have chosen to be cheap because they're experienced enough to find genuine bargains that sound great.

Greetings & Welcome to AC   :thumb:  Give things a little time, once you have 3 posts in you'll have full access to the site. The registration process is simply to keep out spammers & bots. Danny & other of the site sponsors wouldn't have linked you here if they weren't confident you'd find the information on their equipment, and general assistance you may be looking for. As Zuman notes you'll find lots of friendly, knowledgeable, and generous folks here from all over the globe.

For a speaker that would be a very nice replacement of the 1995 NHT 2.1, you should check out the Sierra Acoustics bookshelf speakers.

They are designed and assembled in America, and the designer has a Klippel NFS to measure and optimize performance. I have a pair of the Sierra LX, and they are truly excellent. The cost is also reasonable.

Here are some posts regarding the design and development so you can get an idea of the speakers:

Welcome to the club. If you're looking at building a set of speakers, the hardest part will be coming up with the esthetic you're looking for, whether veneered or painted and what colors. We always love to help new builders work their way through the project, so don't be afraid to ask a ton of questions. Just out of curiosity, what speakers were you looking to build out and what's the rest of your audio system made of?

so many speakers to choose from. i have only heard one pair of GR speakers, not sure of the model but it was a very tall multi driver tower. i heard them side by side with some Revel Salons and they held their own.

any brands besides GR you are considering?
room size?
budget?

You could start a thread in the Enclosures circle describing what your system is like, what you've liked about you NHTs, and what price range you are looking in for the new pair of speakers.
