Mushroom season on Mt. Lemmon above Tucson, AZ

Mt. Lemmon (9,159 feet) in the Catalina Mountains is a sky island above Tucson, AZ. The tiny town of Summerhaven is at 8200 feet and at this time of year mushrooms pop up on the trails and trees around the town. The monsoon rains start at the beginning of July and the mountain gets daily afternoon rains until September. The afternoon temperature in Summerhaven was 64 degrees and a relatively comfortable 103 degrees in Tucson when we got back into town.

A lot of mushrooms look edible, some don't. We are too chicken to find out which is which.
