"MaXXXine" is the third film in Ty West's porno/slasher trilogy that started with "X" and "Pearl" starring Mia Goth.

After working for 6 years making x-rated porn films she has an opportunity to star in a real film, "The Puritan II." There is only one little problem she has to clear up, someone is killing and branding young starlets and she is on their list.

Kevin Bacon co-stars as the seediest private detective I have ever seen, he is a hoot to watch. Giancarlo Esposito is Maxine's agent who will do anything to protect her. Bobby Cannavale is terrific as Det. Torres who treats every interrogation as an opportunity to play the tough guy. Elizabeth Debicki is also fabulous as Elizabeth Bender, the director of Puritan II .
The film's background is Hollywood in 1985, drugs and sex and disco in all it's glory. A perfect place for a few murders.
The soundtrack is killer too.
There is some blood and gore but quite toned down from the first two films in the trilogy, relatively speaking. "Maxxxine" still has a hard R rating though. The sex and violence is no worse than "Game of Thrones."
