While I like how small components are these days I'm frustrated by the tangled mess of extra wiring and external power supplies. I enjoy listening to music on my screened porch but transporting the gear out there and plugging everything up is a PITA. A few months ago we bought some wine at Costco and it came in a nice wooden box. I painted it white and then proceeded to arrange the components inside. Amazingly everything fit. I added speaker terminals to the rear and a power strip to the top. Now all I have to do is plug in the banana plugs on the rear and the power strip and I'm in business. The components I use would qualify as C&C : WiiM Mini, Modi MB and Fosi TB10D. I use Axiom outdoor speakers and a Marcato passive sub. I sit with my back to the house wall along with the sub while the speakers face me from each corner.

Thanks. When I become brave enough to leave it on the porch I have a dust cover to protect it from the elements. The cover is a plastic drawer turned upside down.

Actually I just realized that I have a ready made box that would work.  Years ago my brother gifted me a fancy charger case with drawers and shelves with a built in power strip that just sits there gathering dust these days.  Hmmm...

One reason I went with the Fosi TB10D was its tone controls. The Marcato sub is passive and parasitically receives its power from the Fosi amp. Tone controls are needed otherwise it can get boomy. Little did I know I didn't need tone controls with the WiiM as it has EQ settings that moderate the bass. If you don't own a WiiM streamer you should as they are almost too good to be true. I have a first edition Node but much prefer the WiiM interface. I could have bought seven mini's for the price of that Node.

Thanks. Listening to this system on the porch is so addictive as the sound is free of negative room interaction. Very open and holographic sounding reminiscent of OB's.
