So I am going to jump into the vinyl world for the first time.  I saw recommendations for this turntable but I see different mk numbers.  Wondering if the later mks are better and what the difference is.  Also where do I look for the KAB mod inf
ormation etc.  Do people have a cartridge that they recommend?

There is a lot to unpack there.

You could have a whole forum dedicated to Technics mods and carts.

I would google search KAB mods and Carts that match well the that arm and decide what works within your budget.

I am about to fire up my old 1200 mk11 table and perform a few KAB mods. I'm thinking the fluid dampener, tone arm insert, and a rewire for starters. For Carts considering a Nagaoka, a little warmer presentation would do well with my system.

As far as KAB upgrades, the three or 4 big upgrades are:

1. litz arm re-wire
2. Tone arm dampener
3. viscous damper trough
4. main bearing replacement.

For cartridges, there are so many at several price levels, you may want to consider what your budget is for the cart first.
