Neo3 died
« on: 2 Jul 2024, 06:37 pm »
Hi there, I have a question about the Neo3. I have the Super Mini and while listening today, I heard the right channel highs start cutting out. I wasn’t listening loud at all. After about 15 seconds cutting in and out, it is all gone. The left channel is fine and the mids of the right speaker are still fine too. I had this issue two years ago and it was the same channel. Danny was great about a replacement then. I assume it’s a coincidence. Sounds dumb, but I don’t know if something sinister could be afoot.  I switched speaker cables and ran it a few minutes and nothing happened to the other tweeter.

Running a dvd player into the Bottlehead Moreplay pre, and the Bottlehead Stereomour 2a3 amp.

If I order a replacement, how important is it to have a matching pair?

Thanks
Ben

Older batches of Our Neo3s had an issue where they would test perfectly fine, then suddenly fail at some point down the line, and we always replaced them for customers, having the manufacturer replace them for us later. Many drivers never had issues but some occasionally would. The manufacturer found the cause of the issue and has addressed it with more recent batches and the issue has pretty much vanished outside of a couple very rare cases I suspect failed due to gear/clipping issues

I would always order a matched pair, that way you have a matched pair with the 3rd driver as a spare just in case.
