NX-Studios On Double Troubles
« on: 2 Jun 2024, 03:31 pm »
Hi all,

Due to space constraints, I’ll need to put the NX-Studios that I’m building on top of the Double Troubles that I’m building. (Build thread here https://www.audiocircle.com/index.php?topic=188953.msg1982626#msg1982626)

Am curious how those of you who are doing the same have isolated the Studios from the Troubles.

Yours sincerely,
Timothy

Hi Timothy,
I haven't had the pleasure of running double troubles but I did still isolate my speakers from the stands with Isoacoustic Orea Indogo. If you have no kids/dogs/ghosts in your house, you can do with 3 per speaker, but for full stability 4 is advised. You could try the bronze ones, but my speakers sat just over the weight limit (35lbs) to try those. There was a good improvement in focus and fixed some bass resonance. Shop around and you can find them on sale from time to time from places like Parts Connexion.

Early B.

I use Daedalus Audio spikes to isolate my speakers from my double troubles...

On my setup, I use some 3M 1/2" rubber domes to isolate the speakers from the subs and they work quite well.

I use Herbie’s fat dots between the double troubles and the Otica MTMs which have about the same tweeter height as the Studios.

On another note, I have tried to use stands and position the Studios separate from the subs, I could not get the soundstage/imaging correct until I placed them on the subs. My experience is that placing them on the subs yielded the best results even if you have the room to separate them.
