There is no shortcut to it, forget mega spy as goo, yahoo and others snitches.
Use free Protonmail or MailFence, no phone need.

They already know your phone number anyway. They figure it out by matching your google cookies to your cell geotracking. After a couple days of this data they can infer your number.
Used to be able to create new Google account without a phone number, not anymore?

There is no "real workaround" or google would fix it.
Try a spoof number, using wifi through VPN to spoof IP, must be in airplane mode so cell is off.
https://www.spoofcard.com/
Delete cookies, then use the app only in wifi/VPN/airplane with no other google products running. Delete all cookies on the phone immediately before and after app use. I think you're not going to outsmart google demons.

Resistance is futile... Don't fight it

I never noticed any extra junk texts after I got my gmail account so spam is not an issue.
Gmail needs a phone number for 2-factor authorization. I'm happy they check once in a while when I buy something.

An affordable option would be a Tracfone plan and a reconditioned flip phone. A basic Trackfone plan is $100 a year and a reconditioned flip phone is $5.

Of course you will have to carry the flip phone with you all the time in case gmail needs to confirm you are you, which will probably happen the first time you sign with another phone or computer.

I learned that most web sites can derive the exact user address with the #IP and in case of goo they have full access to my profile at my internet provider. Years ago I used to have a gmail til the day they I mistake the password and they started asking questions of every content of the account as folders names, contact names etc. Power abuse.

Of course web sites need your IP address, how else can they send you the info you requested without an address? It would be like telling the post office you don't want to give them your address but still expected mail delivery.

All the questions about what is on your computer "gmail" asked probably had a Russian accent.

You are mixing things up to minimize the problem, IP number and user address are different things. I confirm that my address (complete street/building number address) already was identified several times by some sites through the #IP, supposedly with help from my internet provider, which is a multinational company that now use static IP.

An IP address can serve thousands of devices owned by thousands of people. A VPN gives you an IP address shared by 10s to 100s of thousands of people.

Sending the information to the correct device at an IP address requires NAT.

And I always thought I was unique.

ShieldsUP! has their own definition regarding IP addresses. NAT's are a completely different and something I know nothing about. ShieldsUP! is safe, it also probes your computer for open ports:
Without your knowledge or explicit permission, the Windows networking technology which connects your computer to the Internet may be offering some or all of your computer's data to the entire world at this very moment!

Click on Services and the ShieldsUP! button.

https://www.grc.com/

I Xed out my IP address, your page will have numbers.

This is what I get using my regular everyday qwest connection

Here is the dialog when I go to ShieldsUP! using CyberGhost VPN, which is always excellent and has super fast servers worldwide.
The internet connection address in the dialog box IS NOT my qwest IP, it is a black hole somewhere in the universe.

I have a Gmail account with no phone number.  I have a regular email account (which is mainly for personal use and I do have radio stations with my Tune In Radio for the Lumin music server) and a junk email account (with a different provider and is used primarily for things like ordering merchandise or forums) and my junk email account is my recovery mechanism.  I looked at my account and I don't have a telephone number associated with it.

As a US citizen goo dont need press you to get your cell phone # (to access your internet provider and get your full details for free) they already know everything from you from your social security, bank and CC company, I believe they yet are asking Cell n* to get a official formal user permisson to avoid legal probs.

I never give a cell phone number out (banks and credit card companies included - if they would require that, I'd change banks and credit cards and have already gotten rid of one bank, which, without any written customer requirements, decided I have to use a cell number).  I use an IP based home number which goes and only calls from people on my contact list go through (right now they go straight to voicemail if not on my contact list but sometimes it is set to play back a call blocked message).  The IP based number will send me an email with any voicemail attached.

My cell phone is also configured to send any call from someone not on my contact list straight to voicemail where they get about a 40 second long message that they will be reported to the FCC (and the email with the voicemail will be sent to the FCC) as it is on the do not call list.  I rarely get any scam calls at this point.

Besides scam calls, I don't need non-personal texts, whether that is from a financial institution or even from a medical office.  As to credit cards, I don't even have current credit cards on my Apple or Google Play accounts (have not updated them in years and those which are there are long expired and cancelled).  Generally, if I download an App, it is a free one.  I have a credit card expiring next year (which won't be renewed) and if I need to update something, it will be shortly before that card expires.

There's just way too much personal information available (I've opted out of most things).  The bank I moved on from kept bugging me about a cell phone number and I replied they are not getting it and if I get one more request for it the account would be closed and it was.  I gave them the home number.  I'm retired and many just assume I'm going to have my cell phone on me all the time which is not the case.  There are times if I don't go out for a couple of days, the cell phone doesn't get looked at.  If anyone wants me, I have a home phone within 15 feet every place in my house and if that's not good enough, I'll do business with someone else.
