The DSP Nexus is a fantastic piece of technology. I’ve used it on both the supermini and the Maggie LRS+. I think most people would be pretty happy with it as long as someone like Hal does the heavy lifting in developing the Audioweaver config. My intent with it moving forward is to eventually build a new version of the Lineforce using Radian drivers and have it all active crossover.
I tried it as a basic streamer/dac/preamp (using two channels full range) and decided that I liked the sound from my existing streamer/dac/preamp a bit better.
At the time, I was using the Sonore Signature Rendu SE -> Denafrips Gaia -> Denafrips Terminator Plus -> DIY solid state preamp. I've since replaced the Sonore with a DIY streamer, and the preamp with my DHT linestage, both of which I like better than my previous setup.
As a DSP crossover, the DSP Nexus offers a ton of flexibility, and sounds pretty good. It could well be a better solution than using a passive crossover, but I think I'd prefer using my current electronics and building an analog active crossover between the preamp and amplifiers. So this is my current plan.
The main limitation of this approach is the lack of any ability to do time alignment, but this isn't really required with my line arrays since the drivers are on the same plane. The crossover to the woofers is a low enough frequency that I doubt a small amount of time misalignment isn't going to make much difference.
I can then use the DSP functionality in Roon to tweak the response for anything that isn't easy to do with the analog crossover.
