How skilled is Nancy Wilson to play the intro on Crazy On You?

What I learned today on the Net, is a guitarist doesn't have to be a Master to play this intro to where the band kicks in or the rest of the song, it's not all that complicated. Then there are guitarist with 10 years experience that claim they could not play it fluently on Stage.
So a guitarist would have to be more than a Novice and would take at least a week of practice, probably more, to play it as fluently as Nancy Wilson on Stage.

Definitely a well played guitar intro.

I saw them a few times in bars around Portland around the time Dreamboat Annie came out. Other that be bone thin and smoking hot young ladies, they were both very talented.

I am also a Wilson sister fan.

Nancy was always fun to watch and a joy on the guitar. Was she Eric Clapton... no.

I played guitars with her in high school. No way I could keep up with her playing! I became an engineer instead.

My wife was the concierge to talent at the Tacoma Dome in the mid 80's, and was present for a Heart concert, actually meeting Ann, but not Nancy. She Also saw Fleetwood Mac during her time there. She said that Nancy was better than Lindsey Buckingham, and is as good or better than Eddie Van Halen. Basically she can hang with anybody.

Wilson is an excellent and underrated guitar player, but in no way is better than Lindsey Buckingham who is a fabulous player with his own unique style. I have seen him live in concert 3 times with Fleetwood Mac.

Take it up with my wife, it's her opinion, and she is an accomplished cello player that played with the Seattle Junior Symphony. Plus she really does have an amazing ear. I did give a bit of side long glance, but I have to live with her, so....

The posted clip was analyzed by Elizabeth Zarkov of The Charismatic Voice, who's a degreed professional opera singer and vocal coach. She mostly focuses on Ann's vocals, but does give Nancy her props for the amazing intro. As a a former guitar player myself no, it's not terribly technical, but it's very well done regardless. I love the early work from Heart and I'm a fan of both Ann and Nancy, but they haven't stayed relevant in later years. I think we can safely say Nancy is one of the greatest women guitarists.
