They're called the "Anti-Cable".

http://cls.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/cls.pl?cablspkr&1117553770

I was "browsing" last week at AudioGon and stumbled upon these things, fell for the flattering reviews and comments, got them yesterday - 9 footers - 90 bucks - and was totally, completely blown away within 30 seconds.

Scott - you know I'm a skeptic when it comes to this kinda crap, but I'm telling you, the sound coming from my Audio Note AZ-Two's is totally, (emphatically) TOTALLY improved.  I still can't believe the difference.  Soundstaging increased 2 fold, bass deep, tight, highs crystal clear but not too bright, definition and separation - just plain surprising.

And I really liked my system before!

Bring them along to the next meeting ( which should hopefully be at BS) and we'll put them up against some of the overpriced stuff I have here.
Any inprovement you can make to your system for under $100 is money well spent.

That is the same guy that makes the 'Zero autoformers' that Steve D uses.
I must admit incredible curiosity as to how you come to like your wires as they and you 'break in' to each other.  Cheap AND simple sound too good to be true!

So far I've listened to:

-Peter Gabriel, UP - Sounded outta this world - Peter's stuff is always so well done - and now the sound on this one is even better.
-Coltrane - Giant Steps - Sounded Perfect
-Metheny - This Way Up - A little Bright - Pat's stuff is always mixed very bright to start with  . . .
-Terje Rypdal - Waves - Sounded incredible - I've listened to this disc a million times - never, ever sounded better, and I know this one inside out.  Still heard stuff I never knew was in it.
-Classical Radio - Really, Really nice, clean, great lower register
Spirit - 12 Dreams of Dr. S. - Wow - again stuff I didn't even know was on the record (CD)

Satellite Radio - Sirius - Jazz Standards.  Even cleaned up this signal, which I was always surprised was not as great sounding as I expected it to be.

Still impressed.  Stay tuned.

Hey Kirch,
I was following the magnet wire threads on the Planar Asylum awhile back and there were major epiphanies regarding the anti-cables and 12 ga. magnet wire in general with Magneplanars. So Alex and I tried some on our IIIA's and I was delighted in the improvement. I'm already using Paul Speltz's Autformers to improve the impedance the VTL's see so half my cables were already 12 ga magnet wire. So it was a logical step to finish out the run from the outboard crossovers with 12 ga. magnet wire jumpers.

I noticed an immediate improvement in the quantity and quality of the bass, and the midrange was much fuller bodied. The highs were a little bit more rolled off compared to the ZeroPoint cable I was using previously but the overall presentation was much fuller and with a bigger soundstage. The Asylum guys claim its the lack of a thick dielectric as well as the solid core copper that does the trick. Whatever it is, I'm sold!

The only funky thing is how stiff the wire is. It has to be formed to the shape but then, you can make little wire sculptures out of them if you want.

Wrong fish. I just braided a pair of ICs out of CAT 5 and the improvement in clarity and dimension was immediate and obvious. The "cable" industry is a scam to a large degree. There are some good designs out there that are worth the bucks but, I fear, that "hype" rules the day for the most part. I will bring mine along to the next meeting. They will surprise you. Just let me know when.
