isolation devices
« on: 22 Apr 2005, 12:55 am »
Hi:

I have a SOTA Nova with a grahm 1.5t and a van den hil mc1 super special. It is a sprung design. Right now I have them on the top shelf of a target stand with the upturned spikes.

I need better isolation. I have been considering the bright star airmas, the  ginko cloud 10 and a nuance shelf. Any opinions would be appreciated. Also, can I use either the ginko or bright star as a shelf or should I put them on the existing shelf.

thanks
John

I’ve been very impressed with the Ginko cloud 11, I use it with a Target wall mount a very good match. Low bass has no effect now on my TT. You can check it out in my gallery.

John,

If you are in The Village, you can get one of these.  http://www.audiocircle.com/index.php?topic=18235

woodsyi:

Thanks for the lead. I bought one. I think I am going to combine it with an airmas.

John...what's the dimensions of your table?  I've got a couple of Neuance shelves if you want to try one out...

How do you like the Neuance shelves?

Phil:

How do you like them? I am thinking about using them under the arcam and my amp. The amp is around 50 pounds. How much do you want for them?

thanks

Michael...I have two Neuance shelves, and I like them very much.  Surprisingly, I found that the one under my amp (Blue Circle BC202 hybrid amp, 70lbs) is more effective than the one under my transport (EA Sony S7700).  I suspect this is because I have the amp on the floor, whereas the transport sits on a TAOC rack...the TAOC has some pretty serious shelves built in (multi-layed MDF with an iron-powder core), so the Neuance there is kind of redundant.

John...not sure if I'm selling them (if I do, it will only be the one I use for my transport, per my comments above).  If I do, it won't be much different than what I paid for it since it is fairly new...your benefit will be that you won't have to wait the 6-7 weeks it takes for Neuance to build it.  But I'm happy to loan it to you if you want to try it first.  Do you happen to know the dimensions/footprint of the Arcam?

Phil:

the arcam is 16.75" (430mm) W by 3.33" (85mm) H by 11.33" (290mm), according to stereophile. I don't know what the distances between the feet are. It weighs 18.5 lbs.

thanks

John...my smaller one should fit the Arcam ok.  I'll have it at HE2005 if you want to pick it up on Sunday...
