While I was playing this, my wife jogged by me with her hands up the air and a menacing look on her face.
I keep waiting for Maynard Ferguson big entrance. I play Gonna Fly Now once a month on early Sunday mornings.

This song is not a american song. Here the original popular Russian song composed by Boris Fomin with lyrics by poet Konstantin Podrevsk, sung by Alexander Vertinsky and piano, who first recorded By the Long Road in 1926. Eugene Raskin used this song for Those were the days version. Popularised by Mary Hopkins released 42 years later.

Lyrics
Dorogoj Dlinnoyu - By The Long Road
We rode in a troika with bells
And in the distance twinkled lights
I would now, falcons, after you
Let my soul be distracted from longing

By the long road, by the moonlit night
With that song that rings far away
From that old one with seven string
That tormented me so at night

Yes, it turns out we sang in vain
Night after night we burned
If we finished with the old
So did these nights pass!

By the long road, by the moonlit night
With that song that rings far away
From that old one with seven string
That tormented me so at night

Yes, it turns out we sang in vain
Night after night we burned
If we finished with the old
So did these nights pass!

By the long road, by the moonlit night
With that song that rings far away
From that old one with seven string
That tormented me so at night
