Anyone have any idea what this might sound like? (and look like video-wise?)

I haven't seen/listened to it, but it sure looks like quite a bit for $800.

If that's the case for the price it might be a good mod platform.

I just called SN to find out and they said it should be available end of month.

Looks nice and Sherwood stuff is easy to listen to. However with the new HD formats like Blu-ray and HD-DVD around the corner I wouldn't spend that much on a standalone player. Now if they would incorporate a digital Tripath amp section then I'd be interested.

Does this upconvert DVD to 720P and 1080I via HDMI? I think this player will be very competitive with the Onkyo DVSP1000 player which is twice the price and currently the king of the hill. What is "Sherwood Digi Link III communication protocol"? What processors will accept this connection?

Only Sherwood processors will accept the connection.

The video stuff is nice, but my main interest in this unit would be hi-rez audio. If it does quality video that would be nice, but video is simply not as important to me as audio. I'm perfectly happy with the video performance of my RP-91, but it is marginal as a DVD-A player, plus I still need an SACD player.
